Graham Cleghorn is serving a 20-year sentence. In a report
for tomorrow’s Herald on Sunday he claims from jail that the girls who
testified against him were bribed and coerced to make false
allegations……Cleghorn is serving a 20 year sentence for child sex crimes he
says he didn’t commit. He claims the girls who testified against him were
bribed and coerced by a Non Governmental Organisation called the Cambodian

…….. Take the case of Thouk Sam Ang. The 11-year-old claims that she was held
prisoner for nearly two weeks by the CWCC and put under great pressure to testify
that 57-year-old Cleghorn, a family friend, had sexually abused her.
"They asked me to say that Graham had touched me. They asked again and
again," Thouk claims in an interview with the REVIEW. She denies that
she was touched or sexually abused, and this was borne out by medical
testing. "They said that Graham and [his Cambodian wife] Toeur had
already confessed . . . They said I should sue him and take all his
money," adds Thouk.

A New Zealander charged with rape and illegal possession
of a weapon has been jailed for 20 years by a Cambodian court. Siem Reap
Municipal Court has found Graham Robert Cleghorn, 57, guilty of repeatedly
raping five former employees aged between 15 and 19. Cleghorn was sentenced
to 20 years jail and ordered to pay US$2000 ($2800) compensation to each
girl's family. The girls had requested between US$5000 and US$10,000 each.

Kiwi accused of rape
A New Zealand man went on trial yesterday for allegedly
raping five girls in Cambodia. Graham Robert Cleghorn, 55, was charged with
raping the girls at his home in Siem Reap province, said Aing Mearadey, an
investigating judge. He was arrested in October. The girls, who came from
poor rural families, worked in Cleghorn's home as housekeepers, Aing Mearadey
said. Cleghorn has denied the charges.

Cleghorn, 55, faced the New Year in a Cambodian jail, with allegations of sex
offences against young girls hanging over his head. Cleghorn has been living
for about a decade in Siam Reap, about 230km from the capital, Phnom Penh,
and has a 23-year-old Cambodian wife, who has also been jailed. Under
Cambodian law, says the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, he could be
held without charge for up to six months
